The Heart of Texas
Autism Network
provides support,
encouragement and
information for persons
affected by autism
spectrum disorder, their
caregivers and families.
We work to improve the
resources available to
help people with ASD
live, work and
participate as fully and
independently as
possible in our society.
Programs and activities
are available for families
and the community.
Monthly meetings are
held with guest
speakers; child care is
usually available, with a
reservation, for children
with autism spectrum
disorders and their
siblings.
For more information on
child care, speakers,
topics, meeting date,
time and location,
please visit our
meetings page.
HOTAN is a 501(c)(3)
non-profit organization
and donations are
tax deductible.

The Baylor Autism
Resource Center
helps fill a critical gap in
resources for this
region. It first opened to
the community on
January 28th, 2008, after
being awarded a Baylor /
Waco Foundation grant.
The center is utilized by
parents, caregivers,
educators, trainers,
professionals in the
field and Baylor
students. It will ensure
that resources,
trainings, workshops,
coordination of
available services and a
team approach is
available to the
community.
BARC also offers a
Summer Day Camp. For a
free brochure PDF file

Other current projects
include facilitating
"Social Circle" groups to
build interpersonal and
social skills for youth
with ASD, developing a
Central Texas Resource
Services Handbook and
Website, and
establishing a lending
library with books,
sensory integration
materials and motor lab
equipment for checkout.
With continued support
from the community, the
center will expand
services and develop
new projects related to
therapy and research in
the field.
For more information
about the center,
contact Julie Ivey, or
visit their website.
The Arc of
McLennan County
provides care and
support for persons and
the families affected by
autism, mental
retardation and
developmental
disabilities.
Each summer the Arc
offers an 8-week day
camp for children with
disabilities, including
a unique and
specialized curriculum
for children with autism.
Many parents would not
be able to continue
working during the
summer if it were not for
the Arc Summer Day
Camp.
The Arc camp enables
parents to know that
quality care is being
provided for their
children during the
summer months. For
more information,
visit their website.
